Greater Merseyside & West Lancashire Life Long Learning Network Board

The Greater Merseyside & West Lancashire Lifelong Learning Network is presided over by a formal board, that meets quarterly.

Terms of Reference

  1. Set the direction, strategy and targets for the Lifelong Learning Network.
  2. Set and oversee financial expenditure and the allocation of resources as appropriate to secure project outcomes.
  3. Oversee the planning, allocation and virement, as appropriate, of Additional Student Numbers (ASNs).
  4. Receive progress reports from the Executive Group and Project Manager as appropriate and approve monitoring reports to the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and other groups, as appropriate.
  5. Inform, advise and seek to influence policy and direction nationally and regionally as appropriate.
  6. Ensure that appropriate strategic alliances and collaborative opportunities are developed with, inter alia, Aimhigher and other Lifelong Learning Networks in the Region.
  7. Ensure the embedding and sustainability of the Lifelong Learning Network, including through exploring other sources of funding.
  8. Review remit and membership as appropriate.

The Board should expect to meet up to four times per annum, but it would be a requirement to meet at least twice a year. Members will, by agreement, be able to provide one named alternative to attend in their absence.
